Good evening! I'm an English English graduate with an interest in all kinds of fun things, and a will to find even more. I reblog whatever I feel like at that moment, including but by no means limited to: Dr Who, Song of Ice and Fire, Homestuck, Pokemon, Avatar TLA/TLK, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Dept Heaven, Whedonverse. Usually not things that specifically ask me to reblog them, though. *****************************************************

Why I am making the executive decision to crown Colin Baker as the ‘King’ of the Doctor Who fandom:
This man has put up with far more shit than anyone else who has ever been in the role. He is frequently dismissed, and referred to as ‘terrible’ and ‘unlike-able’. People also often effusively praise ‘Baker’, referring to Tom, as if Colin doesn’t even exist.
He had very little input in any of the aspects of his portrayal. His costume, described by Colin as “an explosion in a rainbow factory” was chosen for him by producer John Nathan Turner, and was pretty much the opposite of what Colin wanted. The production team also turned his character quite dark, and almost abusive at times, and he had to carry some rather shoddy scripts, and he did so quite admirably.
Colin came into Doctor Who at a time when the BBC had a director of programmes, Michael Grade who hated the show, and wanted it finished for good. In short, he has said quite clearly that Colin was “utterly unlikeable; absolutely God-awful in fact”, and had him fired from the position. Not only that, but he forced him to say that he had chosen to leave of his own accord, and he was even sleeping with Colin’s wife behind his back.
But despite all of this, Colin still is a massive fan and harbours a phenomenal love and respect for the show. Which makes me have a great amount of respect for him. He is also the current president of the Offical Doctor Who Appreciation Society so, well, who else would be better?

Things to take away from this
Colin Baker defended us when Michael Grade called us all ‘loonies’ for liking Doctor Who.
Colin Baker was, in fact, treated like trash by the man who headed the BBC
Colin Baker was canned because of politics - nothing to do with his ability as The Doctor (he was great)
Doctor Who, in general, had good numbers when it was cancelled. Better than other shows, but Grade had a vendetta against Doctor Who
Colin Baker loved the show enough to go on tour to help promote it EVEN AFTER BEING FIRED. JUST TO SAVE THE SHOW.
Colin Baker wasn’t even paid that much for his era. He mainly did the job because he loved it and he believed in the show.
Colin Baker STOOD UP to one of the most powerful men in Britain because he knew he was wronged, even when everyone was telling him to lie and say he quit. He even called him a coward.
Colin Baker was NEVER given a reason for why he was fired.
Colin Baker is a hero among the Who fandom. That people dislike him is simply criminal. Our enemy is Michael Grade.

Reason #8916254 why Colin should’ve had another season (also why I wish June Hudson was kept as costume designer). This was June Hudson’s reimagining of the Doctor’s outfit for post-trial broodfest.

*ugly sobbing*
THIS IS SO PRETTY

Colin Baker performs “Danke Schoen” as Terri Dennis in Privates on Parade.

I assure you, you need this on your blog.

It’s Colin Baker in drag singing in German, what more do you want?

He is magnificent. I’ve watched it many many many times. But I will reblog this every time it’s on my dash. He is so confident and seductive, that it makes me somehow feel better about myself.

Thank you, Colin Baker! I’ve never had a celebrity crush, but I’d spend my life with you.

Oh. My. God. Flawless.

No fair. How do you even exist?

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, Colin.  Every time I think this man is the best person ever, he goes and sings, in drag, in a German accent, and I just asdfgfjkghlk;sldlkjsdglakdjhlsdghdfglkj LET ME LOVE YOU

This is how Colin Baker wanted to look as The Doctor during his time in DOCTOR WHO

Okay, JNT’s fashion sense was terrible though.
(he’s still one of my favourite showrunners!)

I think it’s in the Warriors Of The Deep commentary that Janet Fielding points out that her dress looks like a Hawaiian shirt, Sixie’s outfit is as loud as a Hawaiian shirt, and JNT, strangely enough, was awfully fond of wearing Hawaiian shirts.  Curious.
